1975: BILL LUNDBERG VIDEOS AND INSTALLATION ELEMENTS

Extant elements of a seminal installation by the artist, featured in the landmark final exhibition of the John Gibson Gallery "STRUCTURE" at 392 West Broadway.  The films are both available as a pair, along with the table/speaker and the mirror used to project upon it.

CARDPLAYERS (1975). A film sculpture. Projection on a tabletop. Super-8 sound projector and color film, projector stand, mirror, wire, four chairs, and speaker in table. 60 x 60 x 28 inches (150 x 150 x 70 cm). Edition of 3.

I had in mind a small illusion -- a theater continuing as if the plays were still there.

SILENT DINNER (1975). A film sculpture. Projection on a tabletop. Super-8 sound projector and color film, projector stand, mirror, wire, four chairs, and speaker in table. 60 x 60 x 28 inches (150 x 150 x 70 cm). Edition of 3.

1998: DONALD LIPSKI LIMITED EDITION

Donald Lipski interrogates the notion of art history by applying an Alexandrian solution. The Gordian Knot presented by this series of books gets a drill treatment: a hole is bored straight through the center of the book revealing on its periphery the vestigial remains of 'culture' as it speaks to us out of the distant past. We are left to consider his ambiguous argument with authority and the opulent and reflexive relic it has created.
